Tips for choosing the best exhaust fumes extraction systems
An exhaust fumes extraction systems is required in a car workshop in order to preserve the health of the workers and to ensure the maximum efficiency of the working environment. In today's article, we wish to give you some tips for choosing the right solution to meet your workshop's needs. Read on!
Why an exhaust fume extraction system is needed in the workshop
In cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles repair workshops, during work operations exhaust gases can be spread from mufflers; those gases which represent a potential and serious health risk for technicians working closely with them.
A modern exhaust fumes extraction systems acts directly at the source of the problem, removing harmful gases and elements to ensure a healthy working environment.
A safe and healthy work environment has a significant impact on productivity, business efficiency, and the quality of the performed operations. Moreover, substances contained in exhaust gases, if accumulated, can damage equipment and materials. In fact, the solid component present in exhaust gases can settle on workshop surfaces and furniture, creating an unsuitable environment for carrying out work activities.
The installation of modern and technologically advanced exhaust extraction systems improves work efficiency, optimizing time and reducing costs, resulting in increased profitability.
The latest generation machines and technologies are functional and intuitive, giving technicians the opportunity to complete every task without obstacles, also helping to give an image of modernity to the workshop.
How to choose the most suitable gas extraction system?
The design of each facility should be based on the specific needs of the workshop, taking into consideration the following elements:
- Work spaces layout and configuration
- The different types of activities for which the facility will be used
- The frequency with which the work will be carried out
- The number of the required extraction points
The extraction system power not only have to meet the characteristics and the needs of the company, but also does not have to represent an obstacle for the operators during work.
For this reason, a three-dimensional design of the area can be of great help in taking the right decision when purchasing an exhaust gas aspirator. This provides a clear “idea” of the layout and a realistic idea of the location of the machines and the overall dimensions.
Exhaust gas removal systems
There are four types of exhaust fumes extraction systems. Here are their distinguishing features.
Fixed systems
These systems are ideal to remove toxic substances from those workshops where dangerous gases are generated. Exhaust gases are intercepted at the source through hoses equipped with nozzles and conveyed to a fixed piping system that expels them to the open air. To reduce space requirements, the hoses can be mounted on coilers fixed to walls or ceilings.
Sliding systems
These systems maximize efficiency and optimize installation costs compared with fixed systems; they are particularly suitable for large workshops. Sliding trolleys or rollers, equipped with hoses, move on specially designed aluminium tracks so that they can easily reach even distant locations. An innovative example in this category is the Touchless arm, which requires no direct contact with the exhaust hose and is a universal solution that does not involve specific nozzles.
Underfloor systems
In this case, the exhaust gases are intercepted and conveyed in a fixed pipe system which, however, is positioned under the floor instead of on the walls of the rooms. These are 'hidden' suction systems, which means that the rigid pipes connecting to the exhaust gas extractor are partially integrated into the floor and terminate in sumps from which flexible pipes and suction nozzles emerge.
Mobile systems
This solution is the most flexible and is suitable for small workshops that need less frequent and more isolated applications. These systems include mobile units mounted on wheels, which can be easily moved between different working areas. The units are connected to hoses that evacuate exhaust gases outside the workshop.
As we have seen in this article, in order to choose the most suitable exhaust fumes extraction systems, several factors need to be evaluated. Therefore, it is essential to have a partner who can analyse the building, identify any possible obstacles and specific needs, and recommend customized solutions to guide the choice.
WORKY technicians are able to develop customized projects, that meet the needs of the individual customer, analysing each reality in depth, then studying ad hoc solutions.
