There are different types and models on the market, which are divided according to the use and type of vehicles treated.

Unless the workshop has a touchless extraction system, which we will discuss in a moment, exhaust nozzles are an indispensable component. These items, in fact, are mounted at the end of the exhaust and are used to extract gases directly from the vehicles' muffler, preventing them from being released in the working area.
In fact, regulations impose the obligation to remove exhaust gases from workplaces, which can be complied with by using appropriate extraction equipment.
Since they cannot be filtered, as they are composed of dust that is too fine, the gases must be removed directly from the source of production and released outside so that the work environment remains healthy and clean.
The judicious choice of the type of system to be installed in one's premises ensures at the same time the effective removal of exhaust gases, compliance with regulations, and optimization of space and production efficiency in the workplace.
Excluding stand-alone systems, which have a special configuration because they are designed to be moved inside the workshop, in general, gas extraction systems consist of a few basic components. Let's look at them below.
In an extraction system, we have different types of pipes: galvanised pipes, which facilitate the fluid dynamics of the extraction and facilitate the exit of fumes from the working area; flexible hoses, which, thanks to a special construction, are resistant to high temperatures, crushproof and connects the nozzle to the actual extraction system.
The nozzles are connected to the pipes on one side and to the vehicle muffler on the other, to draw in the gases and make sure that the working environment is not contaminated. The mufflers of different vehicles have very different sizes and shapes; this means that the nozzles must also have different shapes and sizes to fit the mufflers and the main vehicle models.
For example, there are vehicles with double exhausts, which will need double extraction nozzles. Or, trucks and agricultural vehicles often have mufflers located in hard-to-reach places, such as underneath the vehicle or positioned vertically. In addition, heavy vehichles, producing a greater amount of gases that reaches very high temperatures, often require specific, functional and robust systems.
The WORKY range of nozzles are equipped with a manual shutter, which allows the extraction to be partialised and makes it possible to adapt the extraction power to the actual needs, guaranteeing considerable energy and economic savings for the company.
To avoid the need for different types of nozzles, many workshops today opt for touchless extraction systems, which do not come into contact with the vehicle muffler and, as a result, doesn't need to change the nozzle depending on the vehicle being treated.
Here they are in action, in this video:
Touchless extraction systems are certainly very cost-effective, versatile and high-performance and give a modern and innovative look to the workshop, as well as making work more efficient without creating clutter, as they can be folded away when not in use.
We have discussed the advantages of contactless extraction arms in detail in this article.
Fans are specially designed to intercept dangerous emitted gases and expel them outside the workin area. They are available in various powers, to be evaluated according to the workshop's needs
In the most modern systems, the fans can be remotely controlled by operators, thanks to microswitches, radio-frequency remote controls and control panels, allowing significant time savings and increased efficiency.
Hose reels are historically the most widely used solution for extracting exhaust gases and serve to facilitate and speed up the recoiling of the hose so that it does not obstruct the operator. An extraction hose reel can operate with motorised or mechanical recoiling by means of a spring.
They can be installed as fixed systems, with hose reels at specific points in the workshop, or in sliding systems where they move along a track, a kind of rail by which the elements are moved in the working area.

In this article, we have repeatedly emphasised the importance of choosing each element of the system by making due considerations regarding the real needs of the company (the vehicles handled, power requirements, available space).
Relying on an experienced supplier who can advise on the best type of system to install is the best choice to avoid wrong investments.
