Workshop fume extraction: how does it work for HGVs?

Written by Lino Di Betta | July 17 2019

Service centres that work with HGVs must install fume extraction systems, specifically designed to adapt to the shape of the vehicle and high exhaust gas temperatures.

We offer 4 workshop fume extraction solutions, perfect if you mainly service HGVs:

  • Reels with crush-proof reinforced hoses and specific nozzles
  • Ducts with sliding elements
  • Under floor systems
  • Mobile extraction systems.

Reels with crush-proof reinforced hoses

To maintain efficiency, order and productivity, crush-proof reinforced hoses are wound on frames called reels: suspended over the workstation, GMR and GER reels let you unwind and rewind hoses as required for fume extraction in the workshop.

Ducts with sliding elements

Specifically suited for service centres and all those situations that require maximum flexibility to easily reach the exhaust pipe.

Under floor systems

When the workshop is equipped with a bridge crane, GFT well systems are an efficient and practical exhaust gas extraction solution.

Mobile systems for workshop fume extraction

Another ideal solution for HGV service centres is a mobile system: it is easy to move between workstations and even reach difficult points on a lorry or farming machine with a mobile system.

We have two types of mobile systems suited for HGVs:

  • GROLLY-T, for fume extraction in workshops specialised in lorry and bus service. It has a 1.5 HP engine and adjustable nozzle to adapt to the various muffler positions.

  • GROLLY-V, for exhaust fume extraction from large cars or trucks. The nozzle is also adjustable while the engine is 1.0 HP.

The WORKY solution designed for HGVs also stand out for their high level components such as:

Highly resistant workshop fume extraction hoses

The high temperatures reached by the fumes require special precautions such as the use of extraction hoses resistant to extreme heat.

We offer 4 models for your workshop fume extraction system:

  • GT2. Crush-proof reinforced rubber hose, resists up to 200°
  • GT5. Metallic coil reinforced fabric hose, resists up to 500°
  • GT7. Metallic coil reinforced fabric hose, resists up to 700°
  • GT1. Metallic coil reinforced fabric hose, resists up to 1000°.

Adaptable extraction nozzles

HGV mufflers have different diameters and shapes than those on normal vehicles and are often found in hard to reach places; for this reason it is helpful to have nozzles able to adapt to different exhaust hoses in the workshop such as:

  • GMN-E6K7I, flexible nozzle for central lorry exhaust
  • GRTN, rubber nozzle for lorries
  • GRNP-HT, stainless steel nozzle resistant to high temperatures, installed on a trolley
  • GMNVE, crooked pipe nozzle for vertical exhaust pipe extraction
  • GMNC, nozzle with 90° curve.
