A workshop exhaust system consists of several elements, which are necessary for a functional and high-performance system, including the exhaust gas extraction hose.
Hoses are of the key elements when choosing for a high quality installation.
In today's article, we will discuss about the most popular models and some useful suggestions!
The main characteristics of an exhaust extraction hose
There are several elements that make up an exhaust gas extraction system, which is required in workshops to extract and convey the gases produced by vehicle engines outside the workplace.
The exhaust extraction hose connects the nozzle - located on the muffler - to the extractor (either directly or via connecting hoses). The gases are extracted from the aspirator, conveyed through the pipe and expelled from the working area via the exhaust chimney.
An efficient factory must ensure that as much toxic substances as possible are conveyed outside the working area before they spread to the workshop environment causing possible health risk to operators.
The hoses are an important element of the exhaust system, since they enable it to work properly.
Fixed exhaust systems These systems intercept exhaust gases at the source when vehicles engine is on.
There are different configurations of exhaust systems and hoses, depending on the workshop's needs:
- minisets are wall-mounted solutions with fan, tube and gas extraction nozzle
- hose reels, allow the tubes to be coiled, thus leaving the work area free
These extraction systems include mobile units mounted on wheels that can be easily transported to different work areas. The units are connected to flexible hoses to extract exhaust gases outside the workplace.
How to choose an exhaust extraction hose?
The three main characteristics to look for in an exhaust extraction hose are:
- flexibility
- resistance
- durability
The hoses on the market may look very similar, but in terms of quality and efficiency they are actually very different
Main types of gas extraction hoses
WORKY's GT series includes several models of exhaust extraction hoses with different characteristics.
GT2
GT2 flexible hose has a structure made of armoured tissue vulcanised inside out with high temperature EPDM on both sides:
- The hose is totally crushproof and retains its flexibility over the years
- the robust construction and the nylon helix keep the structure opened also during stressing tests.
The GT2 withstands a maximum temperature of 200 degrees and can be used for fixed, sliding and underfloor extraction systems
GT1, GT3, GT5 and GT7
The extraction system has to be equipped with hoses that can withstand high temperatures, when operating on special vehicles or during special special procedures.
GT3, GT5, GT7 and GT1, Reinforced steel wire hoses withstanding maximum temperature of 300°C, 500°C , 700°C and 1000°C respectively.
GTP and GTA
These hoses are suitable for use as a connection or ejection of the extraction system.
GTP PVC light flexible hose for expulsions and connections withstands up to 110°C °; GTA, Seamed aluminium stretch flexible hose measuring from 1 to 3 m. Suitable for connections and withstanding up to 300°C
When choosing the elements of an exhaust gas extraction system, it is essential to focus on the real needs of the workshop, such as:
- vehicles types
- factory needs
- the spaces available in relation to workig areas
- activities’ peculiarity
Relying on a skilled supplier who can advise on the best type of system to install is the best choice to to make profitable investments.
WORKY technicians can develop customised projects, tailor-made to the needs of the customer, studying ad hoc solutions.
